The lamp, made of bronze, is a vertical structure representing four male characters placed exactly one on top of the other and the shoulder of the lower figure is joined to the foot of the one above. Each figure appears to be trying to keep its balance, its arms and legs extended, and holds the two burning candles that symbolise Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights. The ninth candle, the shamash, is placed at the top, on the head of the highest figure.
