Chanukkah
157 x 100 x 40 cm
Steel and glass
The work is a symbolic representation of the Hanukkah light. Nine figures are arranged on a metal structure as though crossing a bridge. Four turn outwards towards the right, another four to the left. The figure at the centre faces forward. Their journey follows a path through time that leads from the past to reach us in the present. They are custodians and ferrymen of a vital message of peace that is thousands of years old, vessels of collective memory – that of Hanukkah – which, thanks to them, has managed to survive the terrible deeds and tragedies of human history.
