Luce nelle tenebre

16 x 53,5 x 11 cm

Wood, enamel, shells, emulsion of paraffin and olive oil

Luce nelle tenebre – Light in the darkness – began with the observation of natural elements: the section of a branch and shells, “objects” that the artist has collected on various trips and transformed into “artistic individuals”. Starting with the found branch, which is painted white, she created a process-based work by resting on it a number of shells, seeking a stable equilibrium between the components that, once found, effectively gave form to the hanukkiah. Next, she poured an emulsion of paraffin and olive oil into the shells, setting the shamash – indicated by a larger shell – at the centre.
