Woven, enamelled copper wire, mirror, Plexiglas

This piece, made by weaving forms from enamelled copper wire by hand, presents two rows of four little screaming mouths, arranged alongside eight, white, spherical candles on the surface of a mirror. The mouths are turned toward a larger, central figure, who also has an expression of suffering, to which another candle is attached, to represent the shamash. The mirror is stuck to a rectangular Plexiglas base, which is supported by four little cubes of the same material. By reflecting the forms above, the mirror captures their souls and amplifies the brightness of the lights.
