Dirce’s Chanukkah
35 x 75 x 40 cm
Twelve wire coat hangers, carbon steel wire, enamelled copper wire, wax tea lights in aluminium cups
This work, dedicated to Dirce Carmi, is composed as a candelabrum that extends horizontally. Two rows of four tea lights run parallel, with orange and black candles arranged opposite one another. A single, white candle, suspended away to one side, serves as the shamash. The entire work is supported by a base of three steel coat hangers arranged so that they radiate outwards in six directions. The shape of the upturned coat hangers recalls the classic form of the candelabrum.
