La Torre
49 x 19,5 x 19,5 cm
Wood, lead crystal, steel, polyurethane foam
The lamp is shaped like a tower formed from three ranks of candles that run parallel to one another. The shamash is situated at the centre, easily distinguishable by its different colour. The “tower” of the title – La Torre – is viewed both as a symbol of vigilance, and as representing an upward journey that connects Heaven and Earth. The tower has significance in many aboriginal cultures; it can allude to the journey upwards to Heaven, but it can also transmit energy downwards, dispensing Heavenly light on Earth on a human scale.
