The artwork in black acrylic colour on canvas depicts the ancient hanukkiah that once belonged to the Museum of Casale Monferrato and currently is located in the Italian Synagogue of Jerusalem, to which it was donated on the occasion of the birth of the State of Israel. The memory of this hanukkiah and its story is part of the heritage of the Casale Jewish Foundation and is kept alive by a historical photograph that portrays a child in the act of lighting it. The artist wanted to recreate this image in a drawing by focusing on the figure of a child that reaches out to history, the past, and the origin of the world, standing out from a timeless and spaceless white background.
