Lume Chanukkah

15 x 47 x 47 cm

Glass, wood and paper

The artwork has a square base, white on the exterior and red and black on the interior. On the base are placed eight upside-down and eight standing stem glasses, each containing a candle. At the center, a stem glass in white and red houses the shamash, higher than the other candles. The candle holder is a stem glass symbolically referring to the drink (divine nectar) of Bacchus and, at the same time, inviting us to live in peace, cultivating friendship and closeness. After the content of the inverted goblets had been drunk and enjoyed, they were placed on top of the paper, which is the key material of the artist’s pictorial style.
