“Light invades the field of vision; shadows define the perception of depth and distances. When you’re playing on a tennis court, the ball you’re trying to hit tells you where it is in so many ways and the light also plays a part in it.” Painting and sport are a part of the artist’s life, so light and shadows have a fundamental role on the pictorial surface defining shapes, lines, and movement. In the light of Hanukkah there is vibration, circularity, and a sense of infinity, and in this work, the circle and the upward tension are expressed through its pictorial geometry.
