Ceramic pottery and curved drawn iron
Ceramica Gatti, Faenza
The work in terracotta is, symbolically, a stylized house from whose top extends a simple, eight-armed candelabra in curved and drawn iron that recalls the shape of typical menorahs. The ninth light, the shamash, derived from the central support rod of the structure, has a candleholder at its top, taller than the other eight arms. The iron surface is also covered by a wraparound decorative motif that testifies to its handcraftsmanship and “ fills” it, embodying the sculpture. The brown pottery base of the hanukkiah features a conical cover with white ceramic decoration and a fake opening on the front: the door to enter the house.
