The surface of the round base of this hanukkiah is blue-veined with darker lines. Ceramic stones produced using the raku technique are screwed to the base, along its circumference. The stones are all slightly different in size and represent the lights. With their hazy colours and smooth, polished surface, they resemble river pebbles. Each pebble has a spout for the oil. Set apart from the others, in a clearly recognizable position, is a ninth rough black pebble, which represents the shamash.
