In this work the high-relief finish on the pressed paper surface gives an overall impression of simplicity. A lamp appears against the rectangular base like a figure covered by a veil of golden sand. At the centre, facing the front, is the ninth light, the shamash, which stands alone without any form of support, at the right of the composition. Three blue glass drops complete the work, one above the shamash, the other two together at the left-hand side of the work.
