The lamp consists of a thin grey sheet of copper. It has an asymmetrical, slightly concave shape, curved at the sides. Nine wave- like tubular filiform copper elements are screwed to the sheet to represent the candles. These elements are arranged in a spiral, starting from the shortest to the tallest, the first about ten centimetres apart and the others gradually becoming closer. An electric wire, connected to a switch, runs through the nine elements to illuminate the tiny light bulbs at the top. The first element in the spiral, the shortest, represents the shamash. It is the only one to have a red bulb that emits coloured light.
