The work portrays a group of nine highly stylised wax human figures playing “ring-a-ring o’ roses”. The various parts of their bodies have been simplified and reduced to mere geometric solids and each one symbolises one of the eight lights of the hanukkiah. A figure made of white wax and with only one leg completes the circle and represents the ninth light, the shamash.
