Roberto Carpani, Fred Charap
127 x 132 x 25 cm
Plexiglas, Pirex and mixed media on canvas
Bussetti & Mazza, Alessandria
This work was created by two artists: Fred Charap produced a pictorial surface in which physical matter is a powerful factor, and Roberto Carpani constructed a sort of methacrylate sheet folded down the middle to obtain two distinct surfaces. He placed Charap’s work on the right-hand side, a pictorial interpretation of the lamp. On the other side, he made a series of cuts that represent stairs. On each step, there are two Hanukkah lights made of Pyrex glass. At the top of the structure, separate from the rest, the ninth light symbolises the shamash.
