Painted terracotta
Fornace Curti, Milano
The hanukkiah created for Casale Monferrato incorporates the forms of various items produced at the Fornace Curti terracotta works, as found elements. The objective is to recuperate forgotten artefacts and allow their repressed energies to grow, through the power of colour and its various combinations. Eight candlesticks, painted with vertical stripes in red, black and blue, sit on a multicoloured, oval tray criss-crossed with marks painted by the artist. One end of the tray bears the signature of the artist; the shamash sits at the other end, isolated and taller than the other lights.
