Mixed media: old thread spools, textile offcuts, cardboard and wood
The artist chose to use recycled materials for this work in the belief that each one has its own dignity and can be reborn. She asked herself what she could use to make a hanukkiah if she travelled. Thus she turned to materials that she might find in a typical home, offcuts of wood, pieces of fabric, thread spools, the paint left in an old tin. She sought to give order to this randomness by placing the spools and candles at regular distances. For the shamash she used a new spool of red thread, to underline that its task is to light and give life to the others.
