Pietro Bestetti
Light on my mind
43 x 72 x 10,5 cm
Bass relief in wood with coloured inserts in enamel and acrylics
The artist has traced the universal outline of a human figure without a definition of gender, race or any other category. In this context, the eight Hanukkah lights represent the reason that pervades every act of creation. The shamash – red in colour, at the far right – is the origin of the creative act. As such, the order of the spheres marks out the rhythm and the dialectic that has always distinguished social progress. For Bestetti, therefore, the affirmation of the light is the affirmation of a unique, universal form of reason for all of humanity.
