The creation of this hanukkiah is based on the fusion between the Jewish culture and the artist’s, that of Sardinia, and is inspired by the sacred meaning of bread in that culture. The work is made of iron and “carasau” bread typical of the island, a symbol of celebration and light, the dominant motif of festivals and traditions, which unites the two cultures. The support of the candles features vibrating musical notes, symbolizing a tribal dance, which celebrates life. The stylized candles are inspired by an ancient woodwind instrument, already used in the Nuragic age, called “launedda”, which is also a symbol of joy and sociability.
