Esilio della Luce. Il Candelabro dentro il Tempio

75,6 x 37,8 x 37,8 cm

729 small magnetic cubes

The artwork was inspired by the concept of light contraction of Isaac Luria intended as “making room for the other”. Starting from the primary shape of a cube composed of 729 magnetic cubes, two complementary and symmetrical sculptures were created, one the exact opposite of the other, where the emptiness of one, and the volume of the other symbolize perfect unity. The Candelabra inside the Temple. The images depicted on the six sides of each cube, as well as on the original, are the elements of the Book of Formation, the Sefer Yetzirah (Spirit/Ruah, Spirit/Sel, Air, Water, Fire, and Earth as a product of Water). In the first, the shamash is represented by the two small cubes that ideally join at the top, at the brightest point, while in the second, they converge at the base at the darkest point.
