The hanukkiah consists of a horizontal composition of geometric shapes, creating a play of empty and full spaces, lights, and shadows, accentuated by the candle lights. The shamash holder is located in the center on the front of the candlestick, lower than the other candles. The viewer unconsciously “plays” with the artwork, trying to understand the combination of geometries, axes, and front and back views that make their gaze travel from one structural element to another without stopping. The dynamic is similar to that of a reflected flame or a fire in continuous movement, which we grasp in its entirety without being able to mentally capture it as a definite and definitive form.
